About Us
WHO WE ARE
We are original people of the Carmelite community. All of us who carry out tourism activities are residents of such a beautiful community, who know the history of this place. We are authorized people with experience to work in the circuit Carmelita-Mirador. Among us there are guides, cooks, assistants, connoisseurs of the jungle since we have lived all the life of what the jungle has given us (xate, gum, pepper).
We are community service providers endorsed by Inguat. With a long experience in expeditions, connoisseurs of the jungle and with much archaeological information.
HISTORY OF CARMELITA
The community of Carmelita was established many years ago, as a central camp for rubber cutters, whom the rubber company Riglers and Adams had sent to prepare an aeroplane strip to assist in the transportation of rubber. At the time there was not even vehicle access into the jungle. Several of these families came from parts of Mexico, and they decided to formalize the settlement as a small village. It was named Carmelita in honor of the newly born daughters of one of the founders of the village, who had been christened Carmelita.
